Luxeed is one of several brands formed under Huawei’s HIMA (Huawei Intelligent Mobility Alliance) initiative, which pairs Huawei’s technology stack with established Chinese automakers. The Luxeed partnership specifically brings together Chery Automobile — one of China’s major independent carmakers — and Huawei, which contributes its DriveONE 800V electric drivetrain, ADS intelligent driving platform, HarmonyOS cockpit, and acoustic systems.
The brand positions itself in China’s upper-premium segment, competing with imported luxury EVs. All Luxeed models are extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs), using a petrol generator to extend range beyond what the battery alone provides — a powertrain architecture popular in China for reducing range anxiety.
The V9 is the brand’s third model and first MPV, joining the S7 sedan (2023) and R7 crossover (2024). It targets the luxury people-carrier segment dominated by the Denza D9 and Li Auto MEGA, with a 21.4-inch ceiling-mounted display, rotatable second-row captain’s chairs, and Huawei’s full self-driving stack as key differentiators.
