BMW offers the M2 with all-wheel drive for the first time. The coupe also gets an updated S58 engine with prechamber ignition to meet Euro 7. Orders are open.
Powertrain. The 3.0L twin-turbo inline-six makes 480 hp and 600 Nm, sent through an 8-speed M Steptronic automatic. Peak torque now arrives at 2200 rpm instead of 2650, and the compression ratio rises to 10.5 from 9.3.
Drive. M xDrive uses a multi-plate clutch and stays rear-biased: the front axle only engages when the rear wheels start to slip. An active differential sits at the rear, and the front axle can be switched off entirely for rear-drive drifts.
Performance. 0-100 km/h takes 3.7 seconds, 0.3 seconds quicker than the rear-drive M2. Top speed is 250 km/h, or 285 km/h with the M Driver’s Package.
Adding all-wheel drive raises the curb weight by 60 kg to 1790 kg. Prices start at €81,300, only €3000 more than the rear-drive automatic.
