Revealed at the Beijing Auto Show in April 2026, the Hongqi Off-Road is FAW’s luxury brand’s first proper body-on-frame 4x4. The final production name has not yet been announced.
The powertrain is an EREV (Extended Range Electric Vehicle): a 2.0T petrol engine acts exclusively as a generator to recharge the battery — it never drives the wheels directly. Four electric motors, one at each wheel, deliver a combined 843 hp and 1,320 Nm of torque. The 0–100 km/h sprint takes 4.5 seconds. EV-only range is 280 km (CLTC); total range with the petrol generator reaches 1,350 km. Battery capacity has not yet been disclosed.
The production body closely follows the original concept, with differences limited to the bumpers. The split tailgate can be optionally equipped with a rear-mounted rack or a spare wheel carrier.
Inside, the cabin features a large multimedia tablet, physical buttons beneath the central air vents, and two prominent levers on the centre console — a deliberate nod to traditional off-road controls. Technology includes air suspension, front and rear differential locks, and a lidar-equipped autopilot system.
Chinese market launch is planned for the second half of 2026. Pricing has not been announced.
