Google’s biggest update to Android Auto and Google Built-in since their introduction. Changes begin rolling out through 2026.

Interface — full redesign based on Material 3: new animations, fonts, and personalisation options. Widget support on the home screen — contacts, weather, garage control.

Navigation — Immersive Navigation in Google Maps renders buildings, interchanges, lane markings, traffic lights and road signs in 3D.

Entertainment — video in Full HD at 60 fps (YouTube and others) while parked. Automatic switch to audio-only when the car moves. Spatial audio support via Dolby Atmos.

Music — updated integrations for YouTube Music and Spotify.

Gemini — expanded in-car assistant. Can reply to messages, search for information, complete tasks, and order food. In vehicles with Google Built-in, Gemini can explain dashboard warning indicators and estimate whether cargo fits in the boot.

New apps — Zoom support confirmed; more third-party apps coming.

The updates arrive gradually across compatible hardware during 2026. Rollout timing per vehicle brand has not been announced.
