The HIMA Alliance — the joint venture between Chery Automobile and Huawei — launched the Luxeed V9 on 15 May 2026. It is the third Luxeed model, following the S7 sedan and R7 crossover, and moves into the full-size MPV segment that has become one of the most competitive categories in the Chinese premium market. The V9 is on sale now in China.
Platform and powertrain
The V9 uses Chery’s E0X-L platform combined with Huawei’s DriveONE drive system, which operates on an 800V architecture. The powertrain type is EREV: a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 156 hp runs as a generator, charging a 53.4 kWh battery pack. The combustion engine never drives the wheels directly.
Two configurations are available. The rear-wheel-drive variant runs a single electric motor producing 309 hp; CLTC range is 305 km; 0–100 km/h takes 9.3 seconds. The all-wheel-drive variant adds a front motor for a combined 520 hp; CLTC range is 285 km; 0–100 km/h drops to 5.9 seconds.
Seven seats and considerable technology
The V9 seats seven. The driver’s instrument cluster is 12.3 inches; the two main multimedia screens are 17.2 inches each; the ceiling-mounted display tablet is 21.4 inches. A refrigerator is fitted. Audio systems range from 25 to 35 speakers depending on specification.
In higher trims, the second-row seats rotate to face the third row, or swivel to face each other for a four-seat meeting configuration. Autonomous driving hardware includes a LiDAR unit. All driver assistance systems are Huawei’s own. Pneumatic suspension and rear-wheel steering are standard across the range.
Pricing
Chinese market prices run from ¥389,800 to ¥519,800 — approximately $54,000 to $72,000 at current exchange rates. No markets outside China have been announced.
