Nissan has updated the Versa — sold as the Almera and Sunny in some markets — for the 2026 model year. Production began in Mexico earlier this year. The update is a visual refresh; the engine, platform, and suspension carry over unchanged.
The Versa consistently ranks in Mexico’s top three best-selling vehicles overall, not just among sedans. Nissan’s Aguascalientes plant, which builds the car, has been running the third generation since 2019.
Exterior — Nissan’s V-Motion grille, narrower headlights with a more angular graphic, and a revised lower bumper. The proportions and silhouette are unchanged. Several new colours have been added.
Powertrain — the HR16DE 1.6-litre four-cylinder (120 hp) continues. Transmission options are a five-speed manual or a CVT. Front-wheel drive only. The suspension — MacPherson front, torsion beam rear — is unchanged.
Interior and equipment — up to a 12.3-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, and a Bose audio system in higher grades. The base model retains a smaller screen.
Safety — the Safety Shield 360 package includes automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane departure warning. It is standard across the range on the 2026 model.
Pricing in Mexico — from $21,600 to $27,150 USD at current exchange rates (Mexican pesos, official Nissan Mexico pricing). No changes to markets outside Latin America have been announced.
