Porsche Ends ICE Macan Production This Summer

The petrol Macan outsells the electric version — 10,130 of 18,209 Macans sold in Q1 2026 were combustion-engined. Porsche is discontinuing it anyway. Leipzig production ends summer 2026; a combustion replacement on Audi Q5 III underpinnings arrives in 2028 under a different name. See the porsche Macan model page.

Porsche’s Leipzig plant will finish production of the combustion Macan this summer. The decision is final. In Q1 2026, 10,130 of the 18,209 Macans sold were petrol — over half. The electric version, launched on the PPE platform in 2024, is not outselling its predecessor.

Timeline:

  • 2013 — Gen 1 Macan debuts
  • 2021 — last facelift
  • 2024 — removed from EU market; Porsche chose not to adapt it for the new European cybersecurity regulations (UN R155)
  • 2024 — electric Macan launches on PPE (shared with Audi)
  • Summer 2026 — ICE Macan production ends
  • 2028 — new combustion crossover on PPC platform (Audi Q5 III underpinnings), sold under a different name

Financial context: Porsche Q1 2026 sales fell 14.7% to 60,991 units; net profit dropped 24.5% to €391M. Parent Volkswagen Group is also under pressure.

What the replacement will be called hasn’t been announced.
