Porsche’s Leipzig plant will finish production of the combustion Macan this summer. The decision is final. In Q1 2026, 10,130 of the 18,209 Macans sold were petrol — over half. The electric version, launched on the PPE platform in 2024, is not outselling its predecessor.
Timeline:
- 2013 — Gen 1 Macan debuts
- 2021 — last facelift
- 2024 — removed from EU market; Porsche chose not to adapt it for the new European cybersecurity regulations (UN R155)
- 2024 — electric Macan launches on PPE (shared with Audi)
- Summer 2026 — ICE Macan production ends
- 2028 — new combustion crossover on PPC platform (Audi Q5 III underpinnings), sold under a different name
Financial context: Porsche Q1 2026 sales fell 14.7% to 60,991 units; net profit dropped 24.5% to €391M. Parent Volkswagen Group is also under pressure.
What the replacement will be called hasn’t been announced.
