Subcompact crossover for the Brazilian market, derived from the Onix hatchback on GM’s GEM (Global Emerging Markets) platform. The Sonic adds 60 mm in length (4,230 mm vs 4,170 mm for the Onix), a raised ride height of ~200 mm, and an SUV-style body with plastic cladding. Boot grows from 303 to 392 litres.
One engine: 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder, 115 hp on petrol or ethanol, paired with a 6-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive only.
Two trims:
- Premier — standard kit with chrome details, 8” digital cluster, 11” multimedia with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto
- RS — black accents, larger mesh grille, optional ambient lighting, parking assistant
New Chevrolet logo debuts on the Sonic — first use of the redesigned emblem on a production model.
