Lexus revealed the TZ, a three-row electric SUV aimed at the US, Japan, and Europe simultaneously. US and Japan get the car by end of 2026; Europe follows in 2027.
The TZ sits on a modified TNGA-K platform it shares with the new Toyota Highlander and the Subaru Getaway. Six seats — Lexus calls it two-row, but the second row folds to extend cargo space rather than fit a third row. At 5,100 mm long and 3,050 mm of wheelbase, it’s physically in the same bracket as the BMW iX xDrive60 (5,010 mm), which offers five seats and up to 630 km WLTP on a similar budget.
Powertrain
AWD Direct4 across the range, 408 hp. Two battery options: 95.8 kWh for Europe and Japan, 77 kWh also available in the US. Range on 95.8 kWh: 530 km WLTP. At 5.5 kWh/100km implied efficiency, that figure is plausible for a vehicle of this size — though it hasn’t been tested independently yet. Acceleration: 0–100 km/h in 5.4 seconds.
Equipment
Mark Levinson 21-speaker audio and rear-wheel steering are standard. Lexus Safety System+ 4.0 covers the expected set of active-safety functions. The panoramic roof is the largest Lexus has ever fitted. One optional extra worth noting: a synthetic V10 engine sound based on the LFA supercar, played through the speakers.
What we don’t know
Pricing hasn’t been announced for any market. European pricing is more than a year away, so expect significant variation by the time orders open there in 2027.
